THE Movement Vice-Chairman, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, has cancelled a trip to Sudan to attend the ruling party’s annual general congress which ends today, reports Felix Osike. The Charge d’Affaires at the Sudanese Embassy in Kampala, Sirajuddin Mohammed, said no reason was given for the cancellation. The Movement Director of Information, Ofwono Opondo, said Uganda was still assessing the steps taken by the Sudan government to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries. “Our relationship has been improving but it is still icy. Maybe we need some time to make an assessment so that we can exchange visits at such a high level,” he said. Opondo said Sudan was still hesitant to relocate the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels led by Joseph Kony and hand over captives as had been agreed. Ofwono said the trip was also cancelled following the September 11 terror attacks in the US. Ends
