Uganda HIV/AIDS Control Project Supply of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Drugs Credit No.: 3459-UG IFB number: AIDS/STIdrugs/002 1. This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. 561 of 30th June 2001. 2.The Republic of Uganda has received a credit from the International Development Association in various currencies towards the cost of HIV/AIDS Control Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for Supply of STI drugs. 3.The Uganda AIDS Commission Secretariat now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Supply of STI Drugs. The drugs consist of Metronidazole 200mg Tab, Ciprotloxacin 500 mg Tab, Doxycycline 100mg Tab or Capsule, Erythromycin 250mg Tab, Co-trimoxazole SMZ-TMP) 400/80mg Tab, Nystain Pessaries (100,000 IU), 14 pessaries per strip, Penicillin Benzathine Benzyl 2.4 MU powder (inj). The minimum qualification requirements are: l An average annual turnover on item basis of US$ 400,000 ( per item). In case a bidder is to be awarded more than one item, it should fulfill the aggregate average annual turn-over for the respective item l A production capacity of at least three times of 80 % of drugs required in this tender per annum. l At least three similar contracts in last five years. 4.Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.’ 5.Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below from 0900 hours to 1600 hours on week days. 6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Ushs 90,000 or US$ 50. The method of payment will be by cash, cashier’s cheque or direct deposit to a specified account No. which will be availed to bidders in writing upon request. For overseas delivery an additional US$ 40 will be paid and the document will be sent by courier. 7.Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 31st January 2002 at 1000 hrs. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of a minimum of 2% bid price or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected.
