By Raynel Kanyambu THE Electoral Commission (EC) Thursday directed the Police to impound the government vehicle reportedly used by the Minister of State for Industry, Dr. Richard Nduhuura, in campaigns. Nduhuura is one of the two candidates in Igara East bye-election, after court nullified his election in June after finding him guilty for voting twice. Mrs Florence Nkurukenda, the deputy chairperson of the commission, told Bushenyi District Police Commander Makmot Okello to impound the vehicle, a white Nissan Patrol reg. No. UPI 314. Documents acquired from URA by the Police show that the number plates on the vehicle belong to a Honda Saloon car registered in 1990 in the names of Herbert Muramazi. Nkurukenda gave the directive at a consultative meeting with the candidates at the district council hall at the weekend. She also told the Police to impound any vehicle that ferries voters on polling day. The two candidates, Dr. Nduhuura and Mr. Spencer Turwomwe and their lead agents, Ezra Kikuri and Odo Tayebwa attended the meeting. Turwomwe had reportedly lodged the complaint over Nduhuura’s car both to the Electoral Commission and the Police. Commissioner Sr. Margaret Magooba, the in-charge of western region, who was among the commissioners who9o accompanied Nkurukenda, warned against malpractices. She said issuing of new temporary voters’ cards would be on November 6 - 11 and voting November 15. Ends
