By Hillary Kiirya THE former senior Police officer and court bailiff, Pauline Bangirana, stole sh74m from the High Court of Uganda, the last of seven state witnesses told court yesterday. Testifying in her case, Placid Weri Yiga (beneficiary) of Lira Spinning Mills said Bangirana refused to pay him sh74 given to her by Guoster Company, a Chinese Company. Placid earlier on won a civil suit against Lira Spinning Mills in the High Court, which ordered the sell off of their ginnery for over sh300m to pay him. Placid sad, “I entrusted her as my bailiff to auction Lira Mills which had been attached by the High Court but to the contrary, she decided to put the money to her on needs. And as of now, this money has never been paid. She has the money and she should tell court where it is”. The angry-speaking Placid characterised Bangirana as a woman who did not respect herself as a bailiff but rather a thief. The matter is before the Buganda Road court Grade one magistrate Lydia Mugambe. Prosecution led by Tadeo Asiimwe alleges that Bangirana stole the money during June 2000 from Parliamentary Avenue in Kampala. Ends
