By Samson Opus SPORTS minister Henry Oryem Okello is to officially open the Africa Special Olympics congress at Speke Resort Munyonyo tomorrow. This was confirmed by Special Olympics Uganda director Edward Babumba in a press conference yesterday. The four-day conference facilitated by Special Olympics International will involve 92 delegates from 31 African countries. Special Olympics Africa managing director David Mutambara of Zimbabwe said that the aim of the symposium is to evolve policies in the region. Mutambara said 99% of the mentally retarded members of the community were denied their privileges because of lack of awareness. “It is our belief and hope that by beating the drum and sending the message, they will be accorded their rights,” he said.
