FORMER FUFA chairman John Semanobe was among six delegates who nominated Michael Okiror to contest for the FUFA presidency.

By Daniel Saire FORMER FUFA chairman John Semanobe was among six delegates who nominated Michael Okiror to contest for the FUFA presidency. Semanobe and Hassan Mutaasa signed for former FUFA treasurer Okiror, on behalf of Ex-international players. Bugiri and Sironko district football associations were Okiror’s other seconders. He handed over the forms to returning officer David Agong at 12.10pm at Nakulabye. Five others, Twaha Kakaire, Abass Kaawaase, Kevin Aliro, Joseph Kaggwa and Denis Obua had not returned the forms by press time. Nominations close at 5.00pm today. Obua’s pointsman Yusuf Kyeyune “Chuni” insisted that Semanobe and Mutaasa were their supporters though they nominated Okiror. Aliro said he was still consulting and would make a decision whether to return the forms today. Okiror told The New Vision that he was ready to work with all delegates to help save Uganda’s most popular sport, if elected on December 1. “They all have the people’s mandate to develop football, only that we have had problems with the current head (Denis Obua),” he said. He promised to improve on FUFA’s image with the public and government. Okiror congratulated SC Villa and Express for winning the Nile Special Super League and Kakungulu Cup respectively. Okiror begins his country-wide campaigns in his Mbale stronghold today. ends
