OVER 30 Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel on Monday locked up the Kimaanya-Kyabakuza division chairman, Vincent Kiggundu, over salary arrears.
The angry LDUs went on strike at 10:00am and locked up Kiggundu in his office in Masaka Municipality.
Kiggundu was later rescued from the LDUs by the Police. The rest of the staff members and town clerk Kiyimba Kateregga, fled their offices.
The strike went on in spite of Inspector General of Police Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala being at the Masaka Central Police Station.
