By Douglas Mazune Moses Lumala in a Toyota Celica ST 185 yesterday clocked three minutes 17.39 seconds to win the Southern Motor Club sprint dubbed champion of champions at Lubiri double track circuit. The Caltex Oil sponsored Lumala edged Dembe rally team’s, Kaka Junior in a Subaru Impreza by 12 seconds in the sprint that attracted a mammoth crowd. However, by press time Kaka had lodged in a protest that the margin should have been narrower. He finished the last lap ahead of Lumala. “I do not believe that we only beat him with 57 micro-seconds in the last lap. I believe they were more than that. We know he has beaten us but the margin should have been smaller,” Kaka’s navigator Denis Okori said. Sgt. Ismail Lule in a Subaru Impreza squeezed into third position on 3:35.81 while Ponsiano Lwakataka in another Subaru came fourth a second behind Lule. Herbert “Fasto” Lubega (Toyota Celica ST 165), Nadim Lalani (Golf GTI) and Dipu Ruparelia in a Toyota Celica ST 185 came fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
