By John Nzinjah in Kasese THE Police in Kasese have arrested five people believed to belong to a racket of robbers in the area. “We have recovered a number of registration number plates of motorcycles from these men,” Kasese district CID boss, Erastus Byekwaso told The New Vision. He said the number plates include one belonging to a motorcycle which was stolen at gunpoint by two armed thugs at Rwenjojo, Kibito in Kabarole. Byekwaso said the motorcycle belonging to Robert Sanyu was still missing and was believed to have been smuggled to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Byekwaso did not give the names of the arrested suspects, saying others were still at large. He said investigations were still going on and that the suspects would be transferred to Kabarole. He said the Police operation led by Gally Turya, recovered other stolen property from Nyakasanga sub-county. Meanwhile, the District Police Commander, Pius Mutabazi, has said the security personnel in the district would arrest those who terrorise the residents. “We are tired of robbers, we shall arrest any suspect,” he said. On the lynching of a suspect in Kagando, Mutabazi said, “We are fed up with those robbers.”
