Butagaya school in fundraising drive

OVER sh2m in cash and sh4m in pledges was collected during a fundraising drive for the construction of Butagaya Moslem primary school and the Mosque, respectively.

By Esther Mukyala in Jinja OVER sh2m in cash and sh4m in pledges was collected during a fundraising drive for the construction of Butagaya Moslem primary school and the Mosque, respectively. The fundraising drive was carried out during the school’s open day recently. The school is located in Wansimba county, Butagaya sub-county, Jinja district. Butagaya Moslem PS was founded in June this year. It is supported by members of Merkaz Da-awatil Islamic foundation of Uganda, based in the town of Madina in Saudi Arabia. The organisation’s Uganda branch has its offices in Jinja town. Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Bajjawi, the assistant director of the organisation, who was also the chief guest, pledged sh42m. The funds are to help build both the mosque and the school. Bajjawi urged the school management to make a proper work plan on which he would base to send them the money. He encouraged them to carry out good quality work and to work efficiently. He challenged the parents to support the school by sending their children there and also pay fees in time, to enable the smooth running of the school.
