Nile to crown best of 2001

THE journalist of the year will be known tonight at a Nile Breweries-sponsored function where outstanding Nile Special League (NSSL) performers will also be rewarded.

By James Bakama and Norman Katende THE journalist of the year will be known tonight at a Nile Breweries-sponsored function where outstanding Nile Special League (NSSL) performers will also be rewarded. The function that starts at 6pm will have Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) naming nine top performers in the print and electronic media. On offer are awards for the best new comer, TV presenter, radio presenter, photo journalist, writer, writer (Nile-NSSL), photographer (NSSL), best writer(vernacular) and best columnist. The vote by sports journalists and other leading sports personalities also includes late scribes Kenneth Matovu, Peter Ekarot, Francis Batte and Leo Kabunga, who died in a car accident in August. The second awards will go to NSSL champions SC Villa, who will receive a sh10m prize. Runners-up KCC, Express and referees will also be rewarded. ends
