THE Minister of State for Tourism Trade and Industry, Mr. Jovino Akaki, has asked donors to assist Uganda to fund the re-introduction of the globally endangered rhinos into game parks, reports Gerald Tenywa. Akaki was speaking during a ceremony organised at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), formerly Entebbe Zoo, to officially hand over to the Government two white rhinos, recently imported from Kenya. They were released from quarantine during the same function. Rhino Fund Uganda bought the animals from Solio Ranch, Kenya last month. The UNDP-Small grants Programme, Sheraton Hotel, Crane Bank, World Bank and USAID provided a US$100,000 grant to purchase and transport the rhinos.
