TWO men who allegedly conned the former Resident District Commissioner Masaka, Rose Mutonyi, of sh20m were on Wednesday charged with obtaining money by false pretence, reports Hillary Kiirya. Hillary Birikado, 26, and Richard Kahonaho, appeared before Buganda Road Court. Birikado denied the charges and was granted cash bail of sh2m. He failed to fulfill the bail conditions and was remanded until January 3, 2002. Kahonaho was not present in court and criminal summons were issued for him. The two allegedly got the money from Mutonyi saying they were going to sell her a house. This was after an agreement was reportedly made between two Kampala advocates, Paul Tusubira and Wycliff Birungi to whom they had handed the land title. Mutonyi had reportedly packed her property ready to enter the new house but to her surprise, the owner informed her that she had been conned. Ends
