By James Bakama EXPRESS has threatened to involve police if the sh3m signing fee they gave KCC defender Richard Malinga during the players’ transfers is not refunded. KCC has however said they are under no obligation to refund the money, which they classify as “either a gift or a bribe.” But Express team manager Elias Sserunjogi warned: “We have heard that KCC is not willing to refund, they are mistaken.” Sserunjogi said it will be a theft case to be handled by police if the money is not refunded. “We have a two-year contract that Malinga signed plus documents he signed to receive the money.” But KCC secretary Fred Ogene said they can only consider a refund on humanitarian grounds after Express officially appealing to them. Malinga, who claims to have spent the money, signed for Express then retracted the move saying he was coerced. The left fullback on Wednesday however said he is under pressure following KCC’s delay to make a refund. Ogene ruled out the possibility of Malinga being banned for 365 days for receiving money from two clubs. Malinga had earlier signed a one-year contract with KCC. Ogene argued that KCC’s contract can’t be a basis for saying Malinga received money from two clubs because it was before the transfers. Meanwhile, Ogene said KCC will declare Congolese striker Said Abed a deserter if he does not report at Lugogo for training on January 2. He also said KCC will lodge a protest against Villa for fielding Abed in a friendly in Masaka.
