By Isaac Kiyingi MULTPARTYISTS have welcomed the bid of Colonel (rtd) Kiiza Besigye to stand for presidency, adding that it will not cause political crisis for the country. Ekullo Epak, the MP for Oyam South, made the disclosure at Makerere University Lumumba Hall quadrangle while discussing the paper on the theme, "Was constitutional amendment justifiable for the democratisation of Uganda?" Epak said Besigye came at the time parties expected a person of his nature from the Movement. "Fortunately, God is on our side, he has delivered Rtd Col. Kiiza Besigye not only to corroborate what we used to say, but to reveal what we knew all along but could not say openly, " Epak added. He was reacting to a question from a third-year law student, Oloma, who sought the MPs opinion on the repercussions of Besigye's bid. "There is a basic principal of managing issues. Forget about any crisis over Besigye's standing. It is not going to cause any crisis for the nation," he said. The speaker for Justice Forum, Hussein Kyanjo, who represented presidential aspirant Kibirige Mayanja said, "We as multpartyists, very much welcome Besigye. He should go ahead and reveal the bad facts about the Movement but he should remember that when the time of voting comes, we shall all go back to our camps." The President of the Uganda Young Democrats, Leander Komakech, said Besigye's bid had shown there was dictatorship in the Movement. They opposed the amendment of the Constitution, saying it was not justified. He said it was rushed in two days without time for MPs to consult. Ends.
