By Peter Ocan Some members of the East African Community Beneficiaries Association are to miss out on sh45b the Government approved this year as terminal benefits to ex-EAC workers. Mr. Sekulima Idris Kintu, the Vice-Chairman of the association said the affected ex- employees are those from East Africa Development Bank, East Africa Inter-University, East Africa Flying School, and East Africa School of Librarianship. The four departments, however, benefited from the scheme in 1994. Sekulima said the decision to strike out the four departments was made by the Ministry of Public Service in a report on how former EAC employees are to be paid. According to the report, the affected departments had not collapsed by the time the EAC disintegrated and are still in operation, making it impossible for government to compensate their ex-employees. Sekulima, however, said the association's lawyers were studying the legal technicalities. Ends.
