Army Commander, Maj. Gen. Jeje Odongo, yesterday intervened in clashes between rival Congolese rebel groups over Kasindi border customs post in Congo, 12km from Kasese, reports Emmy Allio. The Wamba dia Wamba, RCD-Liberation Movement faction yesterday said some UPDF officers had deployed troops at Kasindi to back Mbusa Nyamwisi and collect revenue. Polly Siwako, the RCD-ML deputy finance minister, said, "The name of the UPDF is getting ruined in the eyes of the Congolese because of greedy officers like Maj. Mawa who will serve anybody who gives them money." Odongo said he had directed the army in Beni and Kasese to stop any chaos and maintain the status quo. Ends.
