Officials of the Uganda Land Alliance (ULA) yesterday said that they are considering fielding a candidate that will articulate women's views, reports Josephine Maseruka. They further vowed to follow up members of Parliament and aspiring presidential candidates "who have decampaigned the co-ownership clause to ensure that they are not elected." The decision was announced on Tuesday at a press briefing held at the Uganda International Conference Centre. ULA officials said the Movement government has "used women to keep itself in office yet last week's decision on co-ownership was an indication of betrayal to call women issues petty issues." " It is a shame for the VP who is a woman and often chairs Cabinet meetings to make such shocking remarks. The NRM government gets yours to fight you, it is very unfortunate," they said. The chairperson of ULA, Ms. Lydia Bakaki, the ULA Coordinator Harriet Busingye and the chairperson of UWONET Sheilla Kawamara attended the meeting. Bakaki said the meeting was called to clarify on the misleading statements that the Vice President Dr. Wandira Kazibwe made last week on co-ownership and the ULA. Ends.
