By James Bakama Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation's (UAAF) general assembly converges on Wednesday to set an election date. UAAF vice chairman (technical) Moses Twesigye-Omwe said yesterday the elections are slated for January, but the assembly will set the exact date the polls will be held. Delegates are still guarded on who will stand for the federation's top job currently held by Bombo SSS headmaster Salim Habib. "Nobody has declared intentions, but take it from me that performance will be the basis of the delegates' votes." Habib's high points include an outstanding show at the World Cross-country early this season. Uganda won her first medal, a bronze, at the leading International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) event in Vilamoura, Portugal. The medal was won by the junior men's team led by Martin Toroitich. The junior women's team also sparkled with a fifth position on its debut. Dorcas Inzikuru, who led the women's team, later in the year, added more credit to Habib by striking gold at the World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile. The new team will be in office for four years, one more than the present executive. Ends
