HUNDREDS of people will on Saturday throng the Kasubi ancestral tombs to participate in the renovation of the aging Muzibuazaala Mpanga, the burial place of several late Buganda kings, reports Josephine Maseruka. The huge hut constructed in the late 18th century has been leaking for sometime as a result of rotten thatched grass piled over the years. The Saturday community move is in answer to Katikkiro Joseph Ssemwogerere's recent appeal for well wishers to contribute towards the collection of building materials for the rehabilitation of the historical site. According to a tentative programme, groups of marchers led by Ssemwogerere, will walk from Bulange to the tombs as a sign of solidarity and respect for the Bassekabaka, late kings. Participants in the long walk are expected to bring with them building materials. A committee recently set up for the rehabilitation has budgeted sh37m to cover emergency repairs. several people, including individuals, local councils, companies, and aspiring presidential candidates have contributed towards the building materials. fuel and vehicles for ferrying materials from the remotest area in the kingdom have been identified. Ends.
