AAU plans delegation of powers meet

IN the wake of leading motor sport clubs and drivers defecting to the rival Federation of Motor sport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), Automobile Association of Uganda (AAU) will meet clubs January 4 to officially pronounce delegation of powers to a neutral body.

By Douglas Mazune IN the wake of leading motor sport clubs and drivers defecting to the rival Federation of Motor sport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), Automobile Association of Uganda (AAU) will meet clubs January 4 to officially pronounce delegation of powers to a neutral body. "AAU is going to officially pronounce, delegation of motor sport powers under FIA (the world ruling body) statutes to a neutral, all embracing and democratically elected new body in which all clubs will participate as equal partners. "(This) is in order to maintain international status achieved by AAU in the last five years," a press release by AAU secretary general Sam Sali said. Veteran driver Karim Hirji who is also AAU patron will chair the meeting that will be attended by AAU's trustees board chairman Gordon Wavamuno, president Roger Ddungu and the competitions committee members sat Hotel Equatoria. National Council of Sports will be invited. "The clubs shall attend with their full executives," Sali said. Last month AACC chairman John Mutenda announced that AAU would soon hand over power to a neutral and acceptable body. Ends.
