EDITOR: Bernard Mulengani, EAC MP has sued Mulago hospital and AAR Services for the death of his wife Gloria Kyesimire. The above incident of medical negligence at Mulago and AAR, presumably top government and private medical providers, exposes the general struggling medical standards and poor services in the country.

It is no wonder that most high profile people send their relatives abroad for better treatment.

In the midst of this tragedy, I am not defending Mulengani's decision to sue but to caution our leaders to consider lobbying and improving medical standards and quality of staff.

I understand and identify with Mulengani's frustration, pain and anger but as a national leader he should use his position and tragic experience to promote policies that will improve medical services.

Many Ugandans have suffered a similar fate but cannot even afford legal fees or services. May Gloria's soul rest in eternal peace.
