THE UPDF engineering brigade has completed a three- classroom block at Bujjejje Primary School, Bumanya sub-county in Kaliro district.

The deputy chief of defense forces, Lt. Gen. Ivan Koreta, on Friday commissioned the sh51m block, comprising the head teacher’s, office as part of the Tarehe Sita celebrations.

The district education officer, John Peterson Basalirwa, said Bujjejje was one of the 20 primary schools studying under trees.

He applauded the UPDF for constructing the new modern facility with glass windows. Basalirwa said the schools without buildings were part of the 28 schools the education ministry established in 2008.

“Whenever it rains, lessons are suspended for the safety of the pupils. When it shines, the pupils keep searching for the shade,” Basalirwa said. He also added that ten primary schools do not have permanent pit-latrines.
