Valentine gifts to avoid

Feb 10, 2011

JUST because your partner occasionally admires a cute kitten or puppy does not mean they would like one for themselves.

Pets
JUST because your partner occasionally admires a cute kitten or puppy does not mean they would like one for themselves. Do not think of buying your partner one unless they have explicitly said they would love to have one.

Lingerie
Though lingerie would work well for a couple that have been together for a long time, it is not ideal if you have just met. That would be too suggestive.

Household appliances
Whether s/he has been craving a new appliance, no one wants to be reminded of house chores on Valentine’s Day. Keep those kinds of gifts for another day.

Membership at the gym
This would be like telling the person: “You need to do something about the way you look.” Even if they have been thinking about working out, it is almost criminal to hint that on this day to celebrate love, you think they do not look all that.

Deodorant or personal hygiene products
This would be like screaming out that your Valentine’s personal hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. If you must opt for something within that line, opt for a good perfume/cologne, or a set of luxuriously scented bath soaps and gels.

Clothes that do not fit
If you are unsure of your partner’s size and likings in relation to colour, cut or fabric, do not risk buying clothes. Clothes too big or too small are a disaster.
