KAMPALA Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) ace Pierre Kamugasha quit the game after receiving being crowned as the best attacker at the 2010 Volleyball Awards Gala on Friday.

Kamugasha, the national men’s team captain, was also among the KAVC players who received last year’s league crown.

Addressed the gathering at Emerald Hotel in Kampala, Kamugasha said, “I find it very difficult to say this to my team- mates. But in life, there comes a time to take hard decisions.”
“I have been thinking about this many for years. It is the time to say bye today.”

Kamugasha’s announcement was received with shock from many of his colleagues.

Prossy Alobo of Nkumba University got award for best attacker in the women’s event.

Hannington Nsubuga of KAVC was named MVP in the men’s category while UCU’s Julia Sakaya got the women’s award.

Nkumba were crowned as league champions in the women’s category.
