FLAVIA Namakula remains dominant on the local scene despite lowering her handicap to two, writes Douglas Mazune.

Namakula outshone a field of largely double-digit handicappers to claim the MTN February event at Uganda Golf Club last Saturday. She won in January as well.

Playing off handicap two, which is the best in East Africa, she carded 73nett to beat Rose Musoke to top position by one shot. The low handicap makes it more difficult for Namakula to win competitions where nett scores are considered.

The women USPA golfer of the year said she would go for better competition in South Africa later this month if she succeeds in her quest for sponsorship.

John Waigo (75) beat Len Ogembo to the men’s gross prize on count-back.

Stephen Katwiremu and George Egaddu topped group B and C respectively.
