COMEDIAN Herbert Mendo popularly known for mimicking President Yoweri Museveni landed a group of police officers into trouble at the NRM victory party at Kololo Airstrip last Friday.

Just before he went up the stage to do his thing, the funnyman requested a group of police officers on duty backstage to accompany him to the stage and act as his bodyguards during the duration of his gig.

They gladly obliged without seeking the requisite permission from their supervisor who was only a few metres away from the stage. The latter was surprised to see his men taking to the stage as part of Mendo’s comic act.

Incensed, he immediately marched up to the stage and, with a stern face, ordered them to leave immediately. Mendo’s act was almost ruined as the supervisor’s barking from behind him caught him by surprise.

In December, Mendo almost got a Kiyembe-based tailor who was working on his (Mendo) army garment into the coolers. It took PGB’s intervention for the hapless tailor to be freed.

The police officer at Kololo warned his subordinates never to repeat what they did because they were officers of the law, not comedians. Hmmm!
