LAWYERS under the umbrella association, Young Catholic Lawyers for Political Correctness, have urged retired judge, John Bosco Katutsi to write an autobiography to help people learn from his experiences.

In a letter addressed to the judge, the lawyers paid tribute to his illustrious contribution in the Judiciary that spanned 38 years.

“It is our humble prayer that your retirement becomes an opportunity to write a book about your experiences so that Ugandans can learn from them,” the letter reads.

Katutsi’s retirement took effect on December 15 last year, having reached the mandatory retirement age of 65 years for High Court judges.

Born on December 15, 1945 in Bukoora, Kitumba-Ndorwa in the present-day Kabale district, Katutsi was famed for lacing his judgements with poetic language.

Katutsi handled a number of prominent cases including the Kizza Besigye rape case trial in 2006, and the Teddy Ssezi Cheeye Global Fund case.

His last assignment was on March 9, when he sentenced former NSSF boss Chandi Jamwa to 12 years in jail.
