THE Police in Mitooma district are holding a man for allegedly beating up his wife.
Francis Barigye,35,reportedly beat up Christian Mbabazi, 31, because she supported an NRM candidate who was elected as Bitereko sub-county LC3 chairperson in the recent elections.
South western regional Police spokesperson, Polly Namaye said Barigye, is in custody in Mitooma Police Station.
Barigye is a resident of Kamabare village, in Karangara parish. Mbabazi, is admitted at Mbarara hospital. The couple have five children
Namaye said Mbabazi informed the Police in Mitooma that she was beaten by her husband due to political differences.
Barigye is to be charged in court.
