BUGANDA Road Court yesterday ordered the prosecution in the defamation case involving Pastor Robert Kayanja to produce a list of witnesses it intends to summon.

Six people are accused of tarnishing Kayanja’s name. They include pastors Solomon Male of Arising for Christ Ministries, Martin Sempa of Makerere Community Church, Michael Kyazze, and Robert Kayiira of Omega Healing Centre.

Also accused are State House employee Dorothy Kyomuhendo, and local musician David Mukalazi.

Grade One Magistrate John Patrick Wekesa said the list should be availed to the defence lawyers today.

The order was prompted by complaints from the defence team.

Prosecution alleges that in 2008 at various places in Kampala district, the accused “conspired to cause injury to the personality and reputation” of Kayanja, saying he was engaged in homosexuality.

So far, two prosecution witnesses have testified against the accused. On January 31, Robson Matovu, 29, the first witness, told court that he was promised sh56m to allege that Kayanja sodomised him.

On February 2, Robert Kaliba
Musasizi Bulega testified that Male gave him the name Samson Mukisa and instructed him to fabricate a story against Kayanja.

The case will be heard today.
