FRANCE has given a grant of 500,000 euros (about sh1.7b) to Uganda to finance feasibility studies.

Finance minister Syda Bumba said the grant would help the Government to ascertain the viability of the projects before they are undertaken.

The signing of the agreement for the project “Study and Capacity Building” took place between the French Ambassador, Aline Kuster-Menager, and Bumba at the finance ministry offices in Kampala on Friday.

“The grant will support Uganda in preparing projects to be financed by the French Development Agency (AFD) in its priority sectors of water and sanitation, energy and infrastructure,” Aline said.

The fund will also finance selective technical assistance and consultancies.
Bumba pledged transparency and accountability for the resources provided under this grant.
