UGANDA Cranes’ historic Nations Cup win over Guinea Bissau was rewarded with the USPA Sports Personality of the Month award yesterday.

Uganda sports scribes voted the senior national soccer team Sports Personality of the Month of March unopposed for beating Guinea Bissau 1-0 —a result preserved Uganda’s status as table leaders in Group J.

Cranes coach Bobby Williamson attributed the success to team work: “I am pleased because it was a case of everyone pulling in one direction.”

Cranes lead the table with seven points ahead of Kenya (4), Guinea Bissau (3) and Angola (3) in the group.

The journalists also commended athlete Thomas Ayeko who won a silver medal in the World Cross Country Championships in Spain as well as Duncan Mugabe, who retained both the Uganda and Kenya Open tennis championships.
