THE Police in Hoima are holding a meat roaster after he was allegedly found in possession of three goats which went missing on Tuesday morning.

The suspect was identified as Fred Mubangaizi, 33, a meat roaster in Kiryatete, Hoima municipality.

Mubangaizi was arrested by residents who handed him over to the Police after beating him.

Simon Kwikiriza, Mubangaizi’s neighbour, said he heard a goat bleat in the suspect’s house yet he did not rear any animals.

On asking him who the owner of the goats was, Mubangaizi said they were his. However, after the residents caned him, he admitted to have stolen the animals.

The goats belonged to Ramadan Bigirwa, a resident of Kasaasa cell in Hoima town.

Bigirwa had announced the disappearance of his goats on local Radio stations.

The area chairperson, Peter Mayanja, said Mubangaizi named his accomplice, only identified as Asiimwe, who is on the run.

The district criminal investigations boss, Patrick Mwebaze, said the Police had information that Mubangaizi had been in the habit of stealing goats for roasting.

He will be charged with theft, he added.
