NEBBI district health officer Dr. Jakor Oryema has decried the small staff and few facilities to manage tuberculosis (TB) in the district. He said this posed a challenge to the fight against the disease.

The district has only 20 health facilities where TB testing can be done. Speaking at a ceremony in which the district received TB drugs from Building Resource Across Community (BRAC) Uganda, Oryema said many TB cases remained unnoticed.

He urged residents to go for testing, saying the disease can be treated if detected early. The district BRAC laboratory technician, Lawrence Amadrile, said 40 out of the 560 people tested had TB.
