AS every little girl reads the fairy tale of Snow white And The Seven Dwarfs, they dream of their own prince charming, but when they grow older, they realise prince charming is not a reality.

That story does not apply to Catherine Middleton, the fiancée of William, the Prince of Wales. The couple’s courtship developed after they became friends in 2001, when they met at St. Andrews University.

In April 2007, the press reported that Middleton, popularly known as Kate, and the future king of England had split up. They continued to be friends, and later in 2007, they reunited. But it was in November 16, 2010, that the office of the Prince of Wales announced Kate’s engagement to Prince William.

Not since the late Princess Diana has an object of future female royalty caused such media frenzy. In fact, many have compared her to the fallen princess of Wales.

The media have cast a spotlight on Middleton for her stylish choices in fashion, which bodes quite nicely for a woman who may yet become a full-fledged queen.

Middleton has given hope to young women everywhere that any ordinary girl can marry royalty too. But this is not one of those stories where a prince marries a pauper. Middleton’s family finances are what most middle class British dream of.

Besides the 2012 Olympics, no other event stands more anticipated than the royal wedding scheduled to take place April 29.

Even those we rank high in the world of celebrity will be watching the wedding on television. The Beckhams and Guy Ritchie, Madonna’s ex-husband, are some of the high-profile celebrities on the guest list.

As the wedding draws closer, Middleton seems to be worried about her declining weight. She’s worried she won’t have curves on her wedding, so she has resorted to a special diet to help gain weight.

In a family that’s been often hit with scandals, many see Middleton as the future royal voice of reason and a good influence on her man. As someone who has been in his life for nearly a decade, she was already influential in helping him choose his university concentration and has been a constant presence at his many celebrations.

While it would be easy for many women to care more about living the royal fairy tale than loving the prince himself, she seems to truly care.
