ONE of Uganda’s representatives in the Bamburi Super Series, Rwenzori, received a rugby lesson when they were crushed 49-0 by Cheetahs in Nairobi on Saturday.

Their Uganda counterparts Victoria lived to their name when they came out victorious 16-5 against visiting Kenya side Buffaloes but still their display calls for an improvement in scoring capacity.

Rwenzori coach Sam Ahamya needs to put much emphasis on ball handling and body conditioning to counter the hard tackles.

After dominating possession but failing to score, Cheetahs applied a physical and hard tackling game that broke down the Ugandans. Rwenzori and Cheetahs are select teams with players drawn from different teams in Uganda including local rugby aristocrats Kobs and Heathens.

Kobs’ scrum half Davis Kiwalabye who featured for Victoria had a fine game and so much impressed the Kenya national team tactician, Michael Tank Athieno, who tagged him the region’s best upcoming scrum half.

On Saturday Victoria host Cheetahs at Kyadondo while Rwenzori travels to Mumias to face Buffaloes in a game they must win to stay in contention.

Meanwhile, Ugandan journalists and athletes will benefit from the services of Queens Coach Bus while traveling within the East African region. This was disclosed by the company managing director Faizal Muhammad while handing over a return to ticket to Nairobi to a Vision Group reporter on Friday.

“We are committed to supporting sports and we shall continue giving good subsidies to sports personalities traveling within the region for national duty, “Faizal stated.
