Aneno wind 400m Mombasa run

REGIONAL junior sprint queen, Agnes Aneno shrugged off stiff challenge from Olympic 800m champion, Pamela Jelimo to win the 400m event at the Athletics Kenya/ National Bank meeting at Shanzu Teachers College in Mombasa on Friday.

REGIONAL junior sprint queen, Agnes Aneno shrugged off stiff challenge from Olympic 800m champion, Pamela Jelimo to win the 400m event at the Athletics Kenya/ National Bank meeting at Shanzu Teachers College in Mombasa on Friday.

The Ugandan won in 56.4 seconds, relegating the Kenya’s Olympic champion who runs for Kenya Police to third position in 57.6. Grace Kibaki of Posta finished second in 56.7.

Aneno said she was happy to beat the Olympic champion, adding that she will strive to book a ticket for the World Championships due in Korea.

Aneno who also beat Jelimo in the 200 metres heats on the same day failed to run in the finals after being disqualified for a false start.
