Education should not only be free but decent

EDITOR: The Government's proposal to introduce universal free education for A' level is great for our development.

EDITOR: The Government's proposal to introduce universal free education for A' level is great for our development.

However, the Government has been paying too much attention to 'hardware' (school buildings) and less on 'software' ( services).

Teacher absenteeism has been on the increase and the children have not been attended to.

Much as free education is good, let not the people pay the price by acquiring half-baked skills in schools because of failure to monitor efficiency. Even if it is free, the education offered should be worth the name. The country needs quality professionals.
