MYSTERY DATE: I liked his nicely shaped nose

May 20, 2011

EACH week, two lucky people get the chance to go on a blind date. This week, Sophie went with Simon to Choma Restaurant at Centenary Park.

I read Saturday Vision and was inspired to participate in Mystery Date. That day, I prepared myself and went straight to the venue, as had been directed. I sat and waited because I had been told my date would find me there. I kept looking at girls coming in, but nobody was coming to my table and I became anxious.

When she arrived, she went straight to the reception and I saw her being led to my table. I was happy to see her. She sat and greeted me. We introduced ourselves, talked about career and occupation. She was beautiful, lively and chatty. I told her I had a wife and she said she was okay with it. I was surprised because she had told me she wanted a man to hook up with, and here I was telling her about my lover. But she took it easy. That indicated she was a nice person.

She wondered why I was at such a dinner, yet I had a lover and I told her I was bored and wanted to meet someone who would chat me up. Indeed, she was such a person. I promised to get her hooked with someone, but I have not delivered on my promise.

The food was nice and it was one of the most wonderful outings I have ever had in my life.

What do you think people find attractive about you? My beautiful smile
What would you like your mystery date to be? A gentleman

When I thought of going for Mystery Date, I wanted a tall and loving, gentleman. I was really anxious to meet someone when the opportunity came. I was told the man was there before me and I wondered whether I would impress him.

When I got there, a waitress took me to where he was seated. He welcomed me and gave me a seat. He was a nice man. I particularly liked his nose. It was sharp and nicely shaped. However, I had expected that he would give me a hug, but he did not. He did not even pull a chair for me. So from the way he welcomed me, I discovered he was not a gentleman.

He has been calling me since we met and we have kept in touch. However, he says he is upcountry. Whereas I would not mind meeting him again, I do not think anything tangible can come out of it.

But I enjoyed the dinner and his company. It was fantastic.
