Sophia Aniku is a presenter on Vision Voice FM. Her show, V-Drive, makes sure you get safely home with great music, traffic updates and entertainment news. It runs from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on week days. VICKY WANDAWA had a chat with her about her love life

Who is the man in your life?
Currently, I am a single girl who enjoys virgin cocktails with her girlfriends.

Why did your last relationship end?
He thought my profession would compromise his privacy. Some men shy away from journalists. They think a media person will not separate their profession from their personal life. I think he feared that I might say it all out on radio when things were not good. It takes an emotionally strong man to understand my work and accept it.

But would you do that?
I have been on radio for a long time and I have learnt the skill of separating my personal life from my profession.

What attracted you to him?
There are some men who, like wine, keep getting better and better with age. The person had become great, like fine wine.

Were you devastated when it didn’t work out?
No. I did what comes naturally. I got my girls and went out to shake it off.

Aren’t you scared your biological clock is ticking away with no man in sight?
I do not entertain such thoughts. I try to stay positive. It’s something some beliefs call faith.

So what are you looking out for in a man?
Integrity, a great sense of humour, a level of sensitivity and strength in the face of trials, I find it sexy. What’s more, he has to like my whole family. He cannot run away from what I come with. In the same way, I cannot run away from who he comes with.

How are you working on finding him?
Guys around me complain that they do not want another guy in a chic. Starting 2011, I made a resolution to try and balance things up. Before, I was the kind that preferred jeans, a cap and T-shirts. I am trying to be more feminine now and the response is great. More compliments are coming in.

So by end of this year we might have results?
I am positive.

What annoys you about men?
It annoys me when men take women for granted and do not realise the degree a woman will go for them and the children.
Women are die-hards when they really love a man. They are like soldiers, prepared to die in battle.
