THE Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, has ordered for additional post-mortem tests on the body of the renegade Col. Edson Muzoora before it is buried.

According to a source, Kayihura asked the Police to carry out the tests in two different hospitals.

The first post-mortem examination was carried out at Mbarara Referral Hospital on Saturday before the body was transported back to Bushenyi district. Another examination was conducted at Kyabugimbi Health Centre IV in Bushenyi.

The decision was reached after the family members disputed the results from the tests done in Mbarara.

South-western regional police commander Patrick Otika said: “I do not think there is a problem with having two separate post-mortem reports.”

Otika explained that they wanted to have two separate reports so that they could compare notes and avoid exhumation at a later stage.
Otika said the tests from the two institutions had shown no difference.

Muzoora will be buried today, but it is not clear whether he will receive a gun salute.

Muzoora’s body was dumped in his compound on Friday night by unknown people. He had spent about nine years in exile after he fell out with the NRM.

He was on the list of wanted people suspected to be behind the People’s Redemption Army, a rebel group that came into being after the 2003 presidential elections.

UPDF spokesperson Felix Kulayigye said Muzoora ran out of the country in 2003.

Family members said Muzoora was planning to return home and was in negotiations with the Government.

“We were hoping to see him next month (June),” a relative said.
