JOB-SEEKERS and budding entrepreneurs will have the chance to increase their job opportunities as well as business linkages during a fair to be held in the first week of June.

While established businesses will showcase their enterprises, small business start-ups will also post the jobs available in their enterprises and be able to interview potential employees at the fair to be held at the Uganda Manufacturers Association main exhibition hall in Lugogo, Kampala from June 8-9.

The fair is being organised jointly by the Uganda Investment Authority and Sales Energy, a local firm.

The Small Business Start-Up Network and job fair seeks to help entrepreneurs build their social capital through networking.

Sarius Nyanzi, one of the local organisers, said they are expecting 40 firms to exhibit.

To be considered a small businesses, the firm must have capital ranging from sh5m to sh360m.

“For startups, it is anything from zero,” said Nyanzi.
He said the ultimate aim is to create a network of small businesses whose networth improves and increases with interaction.

“The strength of their networks will be determined by the quality of information that is exchanged throughout the network,” read a communication from the organisers.

Successful enterprises and businesses who gradually made the leap to well established large units will be on hand to share their experiences.
