THE Ministry of Local Government has released a list of chief administrative officers (CAOs) and acting CAOs for the 112 districts.

The acting director for local government administration, Charles Katalikawe, yesterday said: “These are normal transfers. We have considered mainly people who have stayed in a station for over three years.”

He added that the transfers are also aimed at strengthening the administration in districts where there were weaknesses.

Katalikawe gave an example of areas where acting or deputy CAOs were confirmed or promoted.
Of the 112 CAOs, 11 are women. However, seven of them are on acting capacity.

Assy Abirebe was the only woman appointed as town clerk. She is the acting town clerk of Ntungamo municipality.

In another development, 336 police officers have been promoted in one of the several elevations that have occurred in the Force recently.

In the latest exercise, announced by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Richard Bisherurwa, 251 sergeants were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector of Police, while 43 moved from constable to Inspector of Police.
