LAST year’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa did not only leave an impression on the world and continent but also on individuals minds who are still passing on what they saw there to their respective countries.

Business men and soccer lovers Francis Migadde and Joseph Kanaaba are some of the astute Ugandans who have decided to extend the World Cup ideologies to the country.
The two have introduced the “Go Cranes mirror socks” to tap into the euphoria and generate more support for the Cranes.

The socks imported from South Africa can be fitted on the outside of any car’s side mirror. A pair goes for sh10,000/- and they can be got from different outlets including supermarkets, match day tickets sale points, taxi parks and from road side vendors.

“We just want the city painted Yellow in support of the Cranes’, we should do everything in our power to qualify. It is long since we last qualified,” Migadde said.

Tickets will sell-out

The national football governing body FUFA expects to sell out tickets for the Cranes Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea Bissau by Friday.

The federation said that by yesterday morning, they had sold 15000 tickets at the various outlets in and around Kampala. They printed 43000 for the African Nations Cup match in anticipation of full capacity crowd at the Mandela National Stadium, Nambole.

Meanwhile Guinea Bissau football governing body has kept silent about the arrival of their team, the ‘Djurtus’ for the match.

FUFA expected the Bissauans to confirm by yesterday, but in vain. FUFA spokesman Rogers Mulindwa said that there is scanty information that they (Guinea Bissau) arrive today but lack the details. The visitors will be accommodated at Sojovalo Hotel.
