KENYA'S U-23 coach Ezekiel Akwana has vowed to beat Uganda Kobs home and away and ensure his team reaches the All Africa Games soccer tournament finals for the first time since 1987.

Akwana is the new Kenya U-23 tactician replacing Bob Oyugi, who was sacked and his team disbanded following a 4-1 defeat to Eritrea.

Akwana has since named a new team for the game against Uganda in Nairobi on June 25.

“I accept Uganda is a tough team and as a coach, I’m in love with challenges. This is a new challenge I will face but I’m sure with adequate preparations we will defeat Uganda,” Akwana told the Kenyan press.

“The players I have named have proved they are ready and capable of playing the Uganda side,” the coach added.

The Uganda team also started preparations for the qualifier with non-residential training under coach George Ssimwogerere at Wankulukuku on Monday.

Akwana said that he expects nothing other than a win when they host Kobs in Nairobi and represent the country in the continental games in Mozambique in September.
