THE Uganda Lady Rugby Cranes finished in third position at the just concluded Reunion islands sevens to warn their opponents ahead of the CAR qualifiers due October in Botswana.

The ladies won three consecutive games on June 24 thrashing Mayotte islands 67-0, French Navy 38-0 and Madagascar 17-7 to make it to the semi-final stage on June 25.

“The girls played so well and their performance after a two-year absence on the international scene was spectacular and I can say they are ready for the CAR qualifiers in Botswana,” said a contented coach Anthony Kinene.

Uganda qualified to face the France U-20 in the semi-finals and were leading the French side 14-12 at full time until a yellow card to Beatrice Atim that the French youngsters took advantage of make a try to make it 17-14 denying Uganda an opportunity to make it to the finals.

Nevertheless, coach Kinene insists that the girls are ready to perform in Botswana in October.

He said, “I will include two or three more girls on the squad to add experience to the side for CAR.”
