THE Nnabagereka of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda, has called for the protection and conservation of heritage resources for the benefit of future generations.

She said the resources benefit communities and generate revenue for the country.

“The pluralism and cultural diversity that exists in Uganda is a great source of strength to our country because the natural and cultural heritage diversities are major tourist attractions,’’ Nagginda said.

She made the remarks during the third Buganda Tourism Expo at Lubiri Mengo in Kampala yesterday.

Nagginda urged leaders to sensitise the local people and foreigners on the significance of the African heritage.

“At a time of globalisation, the protection, conservation, interpretation and presentation of the African heritage and cultural diversity are an important challenge for all of us,” she said.

Nagginda noted that the involvement and cooperation of leaders, conservationists, tourism industry operators and policy makers would help achieve a sustainable industry and enhance the protection of heritage resources for future generations
