OVER 40 families in Mubarak zone in Makindye, a Kampala suburb, have been evicted from their homes following a court ruling.

The families lived on the late Mubarak Ssebunya’s land, next to Makindye Military Barracks.

Court Bailiffs on Thursday morning pulled down the houses, while telling the residents to vacate.

The eviction followed misunderstandings among Ssebunya’s children over ownership and redevelopment of the estate.

Ssebunya, who died in 1992, was so popular in the area that he had a zone (Mubarak) named after him.

He left behind over 40 children from eight women.

Ssebunya’s daughter, Zafalan Ssebunya, said she lost millions of shillings when her boutique was demolished.
