FORMER Kampala city council (KCC) town clerk James Seggane was arrested over fraud on Saturday.

The offence was allegedly committed during Seggane’s tenure in office between 2003 to 2006. He was, however, released on police bond on Sunday.

Seggane, who was granted bail in a sh20 fraud case by the Anti-Corruption court late last year, was arrested from Mubende by detectives in a new probe by the Kampala Capital City Authority to unearth rot at City hall.

Sources said Seggane was arrested in connection with the sale of city markets, particularly Nateete Market. Upon arrest, he was brought to Kampala where he was interrogated by detectives at City hall and recorded a statement.

“He was cooperative and volunteered a lot of information which will help the investigations,” a source said. Seggane was later detained at Central police station (CPS).

Deputy Kampala Police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi said Seggane had been transferred to CPS for custody, but had been released on bond.

Sources, however, said Segg ane denied knowledge of the Nateete vendors and having dealt with them.
