Nancy Cheptegei posted a new personal best as she qualified for the 2000m Steeplechase final at the World Youth athletics championships in Lille, France on Friday.

Nancy Cheptegei posted a new personal best as she qualified for the 2000m Steeplechase final at the World Youth athletics championships in Lille, France on Friday.

In the midafternoon race, Cheptegei clocked 6 minutes 38.57 seconds to qualify for the finals as one of the ladies with the best times.

She finished fifth in her heat 1 and they wanted the top four and best four losers to qualify for the finals.

The race was won by Kenya’s Norah Tanui who clocked 6 minutes 20.67 seconds.

Ethiopian Moto Megarsa was second in the fast heat, which produced a new world youth lead.

Another Ugandan Zachariah Kiprotich is expected to compete in the finals later today.
